| WORKSHOPS & CLASSES: Joanne is a nationally known instructor, offering classes for beginning and experienced bead embroiderers in groups from grade school to graduate school. Ms. Laessig is also knowledgeable in the full range of textile techniques and construction, and this background yields a wealth of innovative approaches for bead embroiderers of all skill levels. In workshops ranging from several hours to several days or classes over a series of weeks, Joanne will place before you a feast of techniques. She'll show you how to use a variety of materials from seed beads to funky antique buttons, sequins and beyond! Classes can be adventurous and try a sampler of techniques, or Joanne can design a project specific to the students' needs. Custom designed classes can highlight design, imagery, historical context/history or technique Outline and filling stitches edges, trims, passementerie, tassels, peyote stitch, meshwork, bead lace, techniques for dimensional work, bead weaving, historical reproductions, or making beads from Polymer Clay. Joanne can provide a customized slide lecture for each class longer than half a day, or a stand-alone lecture on aspects of bead embroidery ó her own and other contemporary work or an historical overview with a dash of cultural anthropology thrown in .
